Eddy Abts ° 1960
Amateur photographer, mainly self-taught. From about 1975, I experimented with analog black and white photography. When I got my first reflex camera (Nikkormat) from my father, my passion for photography really grew high. Many years of film photography were the result (black and white, colour and slides).
In 2004 I bought my first digital camera D70. From that moment I mainly switched to digital. I subscribed to various workshops and webinars and took a 3 year course in SLAC Leuven (analog photography) to practice and to keep in memory all necessary basic photographic techniques.
Actually I try to take or make pictures every day, when the time is right and the light is good. Certainly all travel moments will be extensively recorded. That makes a rather huge library over the years.
Experiencing photography means also following the work of many other photographers. Some inspiring photographers for me are Sebastiao Salgado, Stephan Vanfleteren, Tim Dirven, Pol Leemans (mainly B&W) and Saul Leiter, Harry Gruyaert, Alex Webb, Todd Hido and Martin Osner for their fantastic use of colours. Also to mention Bart Heirweg and Ingrid Vekemans, both excellent Belgian photographers and teachers.
Since 2022 I am a member of a collective of Belgian photographers, named “SEEN”. It is a small group of friends that share the same beautiful passion.
A picture mirrors the eye of the photographer, his view of the world, his interests and feelings about beauty, his engagement towards people and nature.
Thank you for visiting my website. Join me on my photographic journey and I hope you may feel a tiny bit of the emotion I experienced when I clicked the shutter.
